WorldView development grants at Durban FilmMart

DFMcropWe are delighted to announce that we will be offering two development grants to two projects at this year’s Durban FilmMart, as part of our partnership with the programme. The FilmMart is a joint programme between the Durban Film Office and the Durban International Film Festival which aims to further the development and production of film on the African continent through raising the visibility of projects, creating networking opportunities, facilitating funding, promoting collaboration between African filmmakers and supporting international co-production.

This year the Durban FilmMart takes place from 19 to  22 July, with over 250 screenings and a comprehensive workshop and seminar programme. Himesh Kar and Amy Richardson from WorldView will be in attendance, and are very keen to support talent and projects from the region; see some of this year’s exciting new projects. At last year’s FilmMart we were pleased to support The Devil’s Lair and Log Wars, which is currently in development.

WorldView’s sister project Your WorldView, in partnership with the Durban FilmMart, is also providing the opportunity for one African filmmaker to receive a grant of £1,000 to develop a short film on the theme of ‘Home’ as part of its Home season. Pitches submitted in the form of tweets by July 7 will be judged by both organisations before a shortlist of six filmmakers will be asked to produce a video pitch to be considered for the grant.
